Last Wednesday, October 16, the City received the written opinion from the Minnesota Supreme Court related to their August 22 order requiring the City to place Ordinance 18-39 that established the rules for coordinated garbage collection on the November 5 ballot. The ordinance will be on the November ballot.
Saint Paul Public Works has pulled together a fact sheet of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help answer questions about the coordinated trash collection. The FAQ lists what a “yes” vote and a “no” vote will do. The PDF can be found on the City website at https://www.stpaul.gov/departments/public-works/garbage

Thanksgiving and the Day After DBCC and The East Side Enterprise Center Building Will be Closed

Daytons Bluff Community Council will be off and close for Thanksgiving and the day after.

Helping others, get their GED, classes to learn how to start their own business. The Latino Economic Development Center , we thank you. Helping people open or keep their businesses going the African Economic Development Solutions, we thank you. We thank the Twin Cities Mobile Market that goes to places where people need food. TCMM you feed the hungry. We thank those who work with Shared Ground, who help the small farmers bring their product to market. Thank you small farmers who feed America. We thank Lower Phalen Creek Project who help protect our history and parks in the Dayton’s Bluff area. We thank WEQY 104.7 FM radio station for, keeping us informed with what is going on in the neighborhood and playing some of the smoothest music around. We also thank our many partners that are in our building; whether they are hold classes here or meetings. Everyone contributes, you make our neighborhood a better place. Thank you from the staff at DBCC.

Stewardship Grants help homeowners, businesses, schools, and community organizations build projects that prevent stormwater pollution in portions of Saint Paul, Roseville, Falcon Heights, Maplewood, and Lauderdale.

Stewardship Grants

Stewardship Grants help homeowners, businesses, schools, and community organizations build projects that prevent stormwater pollution in portions of Saint Paul, Roseville, Falcon Heights, Maplewood, and Lauderdale. Awards range from $300-$40,000 and applications are accepted year-round.

Public and private landowners are eligible for technical and financial assistance to install water quality improvement best management practices (BMPs). Specifically, the program funds BMPs that reduce stormwater runoff, prevent erosion and filter pollutants. Typical BMP projects include but are not limited to:

  • rain gardens
  • shoreline restoration
  • water reuse systems
  • permeable hardscapes (pavers, asphalt etc.).

METRO Gold Line BRT Project

Public comments needed on the environmental assessment.

The METRO Gold Line BRT Environmental Assessment is now available for review and public comment. Comments will be accepted from October 7 to November 6, 2019.

The environmental assessment is an analysis required by the state and federal governments that evaluates potential environmental, social, economic and transportation benefits and impacts from the project’s construction and operations. Read the document on the Gold Line website or visit one of the public locations listed on the project website to view a copy.

You can submit comments a variety of ways:

Comments will be collected at three public events for the environmental assessment:

Open House: Tuesday, October 22, 5-7 p.m. at East Side Learning Hub at Harding High School

At these events, Gold Line project staff will be available to answer questions and provide more information on the environmental assessment. The Young Women’s Initiative of Minnesota is a partnership between the Governor’s Office and the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota. This multi-year initiative elevates the leadership and solutions of young women, specifically young women of color, Indigenous young women, young women from Greater Minnesota, LGBTQ+ youth, and young women with disabilities.

Young women between the ages of 16-24 are encouraged to apply by submitting the following materials:

  • An application form
  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or professor
  • (Optional) Resume
