Metropolitan State University Grant Money

Money for Students of Low Income in Urban Education.

The School of Urban Education at Metropolitan State University has been awarded a $400,000 grant from the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

The student teaching phase of licensure is a challenging requirement. Student teaching is a full-time, unpaid endeavor that can take 12 to 15 weeks, and presents a huge barrier for many low-income students who are aspiring to become licensed teachers.

This grant will help those who are fulfilling the requirement for teacher licensure by covering the costs of their tuition. It comes at a pivotal moment when Minnesota is facing a shortage of teachers of color and American Indian teachers.

Test your Home for Radon in Ramsey County, Minnesota

Test your Home for Radon
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas. It comes from the natural decay of uranium that is found in nearly all soils. Any home may have a radon problem.

Because radon has no taste, smell or color, the only way to know if radon levels are too high in your home is to test for it.

You can buy a radon test kit at many retail stores or from Ramsey County.

Visit https://ramseycounty.us/residents/health-medical/healthy-homes/radon for an order form or call 651-266-1199.
