January 30 @ 3:00 pm5:00 pm

Screen Shot 2016-01-07 at 12.26.35 PMPaula Rabinowitz, author of AMERICAN PULP: HOW PAPERBACKS BROUGHT MODERNISM TO MAIN STREET, will discuss the ways that African Americans were represented in the commercial popular literature of the 1930s-1950s, and the ways that African American writers created their own representations in this genre.

Paula is donating thousands of books to the Freedom Library, including rare volumes in African American literature. She will be showing us some of these books as part of her presentation.
