Komal Sri-Kumar, an economist who runs an independent research shop, says the employment figures released Friday contain “enough information for the yellow light to flash for investors, the Federal Reserve and the Trump administration.”

He writes in an opinion piece published on Business Insider that widespread underemployment and stagnant wages mean there has effectively been no economic recovery “for a significant portion of the US labor force.”

2020 EMS Academy

Enroll in the Saint Paul EMS Academy to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Tuition, textbooks, uniforms, and equipment are paid for by the academy, and participants receive an hourly wage to attend class. We seek diverse young adults of Ramsey County interested in starting a career in emergency medicine.

The Next Step Fund, made possible by the McKnight Foundation.

The Next Step Fund, made possible by the McKnight Foundation, provides project grants up to $5,000 to artists, creators, and makers in any discipline for the purpose of career development and artistic achievement. Applicants may be at any stage of their career, but must demonstrate achievement in their artistic field and have a history of public presentation or community contribution.

This is a highly competitive program and to help applicants, MRAC offers grant workshops and, new this year, we are also offering draft review of applications before the Monday January 27, 2020 deadline.

Want to learn more about the local arts community? You are a great candidate to be a panelist at MRAC if you:are an artist, are employed or volunteer in the arts, or are an arts enthusiastlive in the 7-county Twin Cities Metro areaare at least 18 years old and are dedicated to advancing equitable grantmaking across the Twin Cities Metro region Native American individuals, people of color, and those who bring diverse perspectives are highly encouraged to apply. If you are a person with a disability we are happy to make accommodations to have you serve as a panelist. Panelists receive a $125 stipend for serving in this important role.
