Metro State Votes 2020: Caucus 101

For the first time in Minnesota history, there will be precinct caucuses (Feb 25) AND a binding Presidential primary (March 3).

Learn more on Thursday, Feb 20 at Metropolitan State University.

Caucuses are neighborhood meetings organized by Minnesota’s political parties to begin the process of choosing delegates to party conventions. Caucuses allow ordinary people to influence the priorities of their chosen political party—people who attend caucuses can affect the issues their party will stand for by offering resolutions. They are held in multiple locations and participation by all voters is encouraged. The percent of delegates each presidential candidate will receive will be determined by popular vote in the Presidential primary.

What will you learn at Caucus 101?
• What to expect when you attend a caucus
• How to stay involved by becoming a delegate
• How to write a resolution and get it passed
• The difference between a caucus and a primary election

Student Center Room 101
690 East 7th Street, Saint Paul, MN
Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

Volunteers Needed

Help at Your Door

Volunteer Driver for Seniors – East Metro training session options on: Weds, Jan 8 1 p.m.,  Tues, Jan 28 10 a.m. and Weds, Feb 26 10:30 a.m.  All trainings are held at the Sun Ray library in St Paul.

Empty passenger seat? Share it with a senior. Help At Your Door, a nonprofit serving seniors, is in need of volunteer drivers throughout the Twin Cities, but especially in St Paul!

Attend one of these trainings to learn how you can help provide the keys to independence by transporting seniors to appointments or errands using your car. Most drivers give just a couple of rides each month, weekday mornings or afternoons only, on a schedule of their choosing.

We offer flexible scheduling, social interaction with a welcoming volunteer community, and most of all, hands-on activities that help the aging population and individuals with disabilities maintain their independence and continue living in their homes.

Email volunteer@helpatyourdoor.org or call 651-642-1892 to register or to learn more.
