Fall Events 2020 in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Halloween will look a bit different this year but Saint Paul Parks and Recreation and our partners are finding alternative, fun, and safe ways to celebrate the fall season! Events are free unless otherwise noted. Some events require registration in advance. Click on the link for each event for more details. All events will adhere to the CDC and MN Department of Health guidance on COVID-19.

Job Club Online, Job Search & Computer Software Classes For Minnesota

Get prepared for a successful job search by participating in these free, live online classes. Registration is required and limited to 500 people per session.

October 6 – Job Club Online: Facing Unemployment at 50 & Older

This workshop focuses on practical, proven advice for workers over 50 looking to resume an established career or try something brand new! We’ll discuss how resumes and interviewing techniques have changed recently, mistakes that can trip up older workers and how recent global events have actually made mature workers highly valuable. This is the sixth week in a 6-part series that covers the essentials of the Creative Job Search (CJS) workshop.

October 7 – Online Workshop: Resume Writing

Craft a resume that will get you noticed. Learn best practices for creating a resume that meets the specific requirements of a position, find out what type of resume may be best for you and identify common mistakes to avoid.

October 8 – Online Workshop: Advanced MS Excel

Excel is the standard spreadsheet application used by most businesses today. Topics covered in this 1.5-hour course will include working with functions, complex formulas and pivot tables. There will be time to have your questions answered and additional follow-up resources will be sent to all participants.

Connecting to Job Club and Online Classes

These online workshops are presented through a WebEx webinar. Participation requires internet access and the ability to stream video and audio.

Registration is required. Register now so you get the link in time to participate!

Home Meal Delivery

If you are a Ramsey County resident and have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible to have up to 21 prepared meals delivered to your home for free each week. All meals are nutritionally balanced and are prepared by licensed food providers. Some providers offer meal options that accommodate specific dietary restrictions.

Eligibility

Meal delivery is available to residents who are confined to their homes due to health conditions, transportation barriers and other reasons related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 impacted residents can apply during open enrollment periods. Entries are accepted online or by calling 651-266-6002 during the following dates only:

·       Nov. 2-4 (notification will be sent on Nov. 9).

·       Nov. 30-Dec. 2 (notification will be sent on Dec. 7).

Eligibility

TechPaks will be awarded to Ramsey County resident who:

·       Experienced job loss.

·       Experienced reduced hours.

·       Saw a change or loss of household income.

·       Face future uncertainty in industry.

·       Have other barriers due to COVID-19.

TechPAK   TechPak initiative launched to assist job seekers impacted by COVID-19

TechPAKS will be awarded to eligible Ramsey County residents who have experienced job loss, reduced hours, change of household
income or have other barriers due to COVID-19. Application periods will be offered from September through December 2020.
An anticipated 500 TechPaks will be distributed by the end of the year.
