Randal Robinson Author of Defending the Spirit The Debt-Book and meeting

This will be an organizational meeting. Thereafter, we will meet on the third Tuesday evenings of each month, 6:30-8PM

We will start with the classic text The Debt.

Copies of the book will be available at Subtext Bookstore, 6 West Fifth Street, downtown St. Paul.

The St. Paul City Council is considering a “Recovery Act,” to promote equity and racial justice. Grassroots organizations such as Black Saint Paul, Black Truce, Black Lives Matter Minnesota, and the Green Party of the United States Reparations Working Group are becoming educated about these concepts and seeking to broaden and deepen local conversations. A Reparations Book Group is part of this process, and a series of public presentations, to begin in March at ESFL, will be another part. Join us in celebrating Black History Month 2020 by following the message of the sankofa bird—to learn by looking backward while setting out to fly forward. Discussion of reparations is a great way to begin. While the first book group meeting will focus on the organization of our work, we encourage participants to pick up their copy of The Debt and begin reading. We’d like to discuss the first three chapters on February 18. Join us!
